How
about the dry stuff first. I am a musician from the sixties and
like many kids my age, I wanted to be in a rock band. I had my
own rock band that actually opened for The Doors at a college
concert. I also gigged with a trio that played at bars and taverns
that allowed me to meet older musicians. I even played in a big
band orchestra! Even back then, I enjoyed fixing gear for musicians
and myself and gained a reputation as a music gear fix-it guy.
From that point, my interest in electronics just took off.
I moved to Chicago in 1971
after attending electronics school in Kentucky. I worked for Lowery Electronics
in Chicago for several years but still had the desire to be
around musicians and their gear. As a result, I began doing
repairs for several music stores including Two Brothers Music,
Windy City Music, Sound Post, Music Biz, and Chicago Factory
Service on a part-time basis while still working full-time
at Lowery. While at Lowery, I was offered and accepted a great
gig as an electronic instrument technician for Argonne
National Labs where I worked on very advanced electronic gear used
in cutting edge scientific research projects. I continued to
repair musician's gear part time while I worked at Argonne. I
worked at Argonne for 15 years and then, due to cutbacks, I was
given a lay-off notice. I was then hired as an electronic instrumentation
technician at CPC International just to be laid off again; oh,
the great business world! Again, I maintained my strong ties
and relationships with the music stores and continued to repair
electronic music gear part-time.
Well, that was it. I decided it was time to do what I really
loved to do and get away from the business world that laid
me off twice. My love was and still is working on electronic
musical equipment. That is when I started my company ICM
Corporation in 1988 and we are still going strong in 2012.
OK, a little personal information about me. I'm married (over
31 years) to my great wife, Sue. She helps me with the bookkeeping
and also is a realtor for Remax 2000 in Orland Park, Illinois. We have
2 children Tammy and Donny, Tammy is married to her husband
Greg and reside in California. They recently gave us our first
grandchild, Kia-Marie.
Donny graduated with a dual major in
Journalism and English and is pursuing a career in Journalism.
My wife says that I'm a workaholic and she is correct. I love
what I do and that will never change. When I get a chance to
relax, our family loves to ski. I'm also into photography,
computers, sports, movies, and of course, music. I'm also really
into technology and all the latest gadgets.
Well, that's about it other than to say that I really enjoy
working on all of the music equipment needing repair. I will
always try to do the best for my customers. Take care everyone
and I look forward to working with you
